Innokin Zenith Coils - Replacement Coils

Innokin's Zenith coils are now sold as Z coils, with the same coils inside and the same pack of 5, now available in eight resistances from 0.3 Ohms up to 1.6 Ohms. One coil fits the Zenith and Zlide tanks.

The 0.3, 0.48, 0.5 and 0.6 Ohms are mesh coils and the 0.8, 1.0, 1.2 and 1.6 Ohms are standard KA1 coils, though the 0.3, 0.8, 1.2 and 1.6 Ohms are now available in an upgraded Mesh V2 build as well. Only the 0.3 Ohms mesh coil is designed for a restricted direct-to-lung (RDL) draw. The 0.48, 0.5 and 0.6 Ohms are mouth-to-lung (MTL) coils, and the whole range is suited to 50 to 70 percent VG e-liquid.

The Eight Z Coils

The 0.3, 0.48 and 0.5 Ohms work best with higher-VG e-liquid, and the 0.6 Ohms with 50/50:

• 0.3 Ohms mesh - 30-40W - a looser restricted direct-to-lung draw
• 0.48 Ohms Plex3D mesh - 13-16W - mouth-to-lung
• 0.5 Ohms Plexus mesh - 14-19W - mouth-to-lung
• 0.6 Ohms DuoPrime dual mesh - 9-13W - mouth-to-lung at lower power

The standard KA1 coils, which give the tighter and warmer draws:

• 0.8 Ohms KA1 - 15-18W - a warmer mouth-to-lung
• 1.0 Ohms KA1 - 20-25W - restricted direct-to-lung, or a warm mouth-to-lung
• 1.2 Ohms KA1 - 10-14W - mouth-to-lung
• 1.6 Ohms KA1 - 9-12W - a tight, cigarette-like mouth-to-lung

The 1.0 Ohms is the exception. Innokin designed it for restricted direct-to-lung vaping or a warm mouth-to-lung, which is why it needs more power than the tighter KA1 coils. The 1.2 and 1.6 Ohms suit 50/50 freebase and nic salts, and the 1.6 Ohms is made for nicotine salt e-liquids specifically.

Plex3D Flavour Mesh

The 0.48 Ohms is built on Innokin's Plex3D, a 3D mesh that increases the coil's surface area for a faster ramp up, with wood pulp and cotton wicking inside the coil. The 0.5 Ohms Plexus mesh is best vaped at wattages between 14 - 19W for a slightly warmer vape, and both coils are built for flavour and longevity.

What It Fits

The Z coil fits the whole Zenith and Zlide line, plus the Coolfire kits and vape pens built around those tanks, though the Coolfire Z Air is compatible with the 0.8, 1.2 and 1.6 Ohms. The MVP5 also carries a dedicated Z-Coil preset: fit a Zenith or Zlide tank, select Z-Coil, and the device sets the optimal range for you. These are the tanks:

• Zenith, Zenith II, Zenith Pro and Zenith II Pro
• Zenith NEX, Zenith D22 and Zenith M
• Zlide and Zlide Top
• Go Z, Go Z Disposable Tank, GO Z+ and GO Z NEX

And these kits:

• Coolfire Mini Zenith D22
• Adept Zlide and Kroma-A Zenith

The Go Z tank is supplied with a 1.6 Ohms coil and is compatible with the 0.6, 0.8, 1.0 and 1.2 Ohms as well, so the 0.3, 0.48 and 0.5 Ohms are not compatible with it. The Go Z Pen has a fixed 13W output and a 0.6 to 3.5 Ohms resistance range, and it is compatible with the 0.6 Ohms and up. The Zlide Tube has a 0.4 to 3.0 Ohms resistance range and a 13W or 16W output, so it is not compatible with the 0.3 Ohms.

Please note: the 0.3 Ohms mesh coil is not compatible with the Innokin Adept, and none of these coils are compatible with devices built for Innokin ZF coils, which are a separate sub-ohm coil range. Check the coil your kit uses before selecting a resistance.

Are Innokin Zenith coils and Z coils the same?

Yes. Boxes marked Zenith coils and boxes marked Z coils have the same coils inside, and Z coils have replaced Zenith coils entirely. Plexus-Z is an older box name for the same coil. Only the name has changed.

How long does an Innokin Z coil last?

How long a Z coil lasts depends on how often you vape, which resistance you have fitted and the e-liquid you pair with it. Change it when the flavour drops off or the vape starts to taste burnt. Priming a new coil and keeping the tank topped up above the coil both help.

How do I change an Innokin Z coil?

Unscrew the tank base, remove the old coil, fit the new one, and fill with your e-liquid. Leave it to stand for a few minutes so the liquid can soak into the wicking. That soak is what prevents dry hits when a coil is new.
