The FreeMax 904L M Mesh Coils are replacement mesh coils with a power range from 40W to 110W. They are available in five options, four of them at 0.15 Ohms and the M2 at 0.2 Ohms, and are supplied in a pack of three. The M1, M2, M3 and M4 are built with SS904L stainless mesh and a tea fibre cotton wick for even heating and clear flavour.
All five are sub-ohm mesh coils for direct-to-lung (DTL) vaping, so the difference between them is the mesh build, the resistance and the power each is rated for. They are made for FreeMax's M Pro series tanks and the Maxus 200W kits built around them. These coils are ideal for use with high VG e-liquids at 70% VG or above.
Mesh Pro and M Pro Coils
These coils are sold as both Mesh Pro coils and M Pro coils. Both names describe the same series of FreeMax tanks.
The M1, M2, M3 and M4 are FreeMax's FM CoilTech 4.0 builds. The M1-D is the FM CoilTech 5.0 build, a Double-D parallel mesh.
Please note: FreeMax has built more than one coil for the M Pro series, and a coil sold as a Mesh Pro coil will not always be one of these five. FreeMax has also built KA1 HoneyComb mesh coils, the Mesh Pro or M Pro Mesh line, with a flax fibre cotton wick rather than tea fibre cotton. The quadruple mesh in that line is rated for 80-120W rather than the 70-110W of the 904L M4, and the line includes a quintuple mesh build.

Military-Grade SS904L Mesh
SS904L mesh makes for a more stable and durable coil. Stainless steel mesh is also compatible with temperature control when used with a mod that supports it.
95% Tea Fibre Cotton
The wick on the M1, M2, M3 and M4 is a blend of 95% tea fibre cotton and 5% organic cotton, which promotes faster saturation. That helps prevent dry hits when you are vaping at higher wattages.
Double-D Parallel Mesh
The M1-D is a parallel mesh coil, made from two single meshes. It heats the e-liquid faster, for a quick ramp up.
The M Platform
Each coil is a push-fit into the tank base. The 904L M coils are designed for use with:
- FreeMax M Pro Tank
- FreeMax M Pro 2 Tank
- FreeMax M Pro 3 Tank
- FreeMax Maxus 200W Kit
- FreeMax Maxus 2 200W Kit
- FreeMax Maxus 3 200W Kit
The Maxus 200W Kit is supplied with the M Pro 2 Tank. The Maxus 2 and the Maxus 3 are both supplied with the M Pro 3 Tank, with an M1-D pre-installed and a 904L M2 in the box.
Please note: the Maxus Max and the Maxus Max Pro are built around the Maxus DTL Pod rather than an M Pro tank, and are not compatible. The Fireluke M, 2, 3 and 4 use FreeMax's 904L X replacement coils instead.
Does vaping at a higher wattage shorten coil life?
Yes. A coil vaped at the top of its power range will burn out faster than one vaped in the middle, and sweetened high VG e-liquid will shorten coil life too. When you notice a drop in flavour or a burnt taste, replace the coil. Priming a new coil helps as well: fill the tank, then allow the coil to fully saturate before your first puff.
Which coil should I fit at 80W?
At 80W we recommend the 0.2 Ohms M2, which is at its best around that figure. The M1-D is rated for 50-80W, with 80W the maximum for that coil. The M3 and the M4 are both rated for 80W as well, but they are suited to more power than that.
